In this journal, we will discuss about religious culture in Islamic boarding schools in shaping the character of students. Islamic boarding schools are one of the oldest educational institutions in Indonesia. Even though they are impressed with traditional education, Islamic boarding schools still exist until now. One of its characteristics is a religious activity that gives independence and good character traits. Thus, there will be a relationship between religion carried out in pesantren and the formation of student character. The students' characters that are formed include religious characters, discipline, patience, sincerity and independence.
